Cover Cropping for Soil Health

Come learn how we use cover crops to build soil at Frith Farm. Daniel will lead a tour of the farm showing the different mixes of plant species we use for both winterkilled and overwintered cover crops, and will discuss timing, seeding methods, crop planning considerations, and termination strategies.

Daniel owns and manages Frith Farm in Scarborough, Maine where he has practiced commercial no-till growing since 2010. He is the author of the book, The No-Till Organic Vegetable Farm: How to Start and Run a Profitable Market Garden That Builds Health in Soil, Crops, and Communities.

As a gesture of reparations for systemic inequities within the field of agriculture, Frith Farm offers free admissions to all events and workshops for BIPOC attendees.

In addition to sliding scale donations, work-trade options are available. The Frith Farm crew works 7am to 4pm Monday-Friday. We suggest 4 hours of work in exchange for the workshop.

Notes on COVID-19 protocols: This event will be held outdoors and limited to 15 participants. All participants must wear masks and observe social distancing for the duration of the workshop.
