Tasha Higgins is the chef/owner of Mother’s Kitchen Foods. She started her love for food while working at the Morning Glory Café in Bar Harbor when she was 19. She decided to further her knowledge by attending New York Restaurant School in Manhattan, NY. She completed the program and did an Internship at a large catering company where they worked events for fragrance debuts, photo shoots and even a party for 800 guests hosted by the NY Zoo
She decided that city life was not for her and back to her little Island she went. Soon after, she purchased Mother’s Kitchen from a lovely lady named Kirsten who was ready to move on to other ventures. So here is Tasha – after two expansions of the building, twenty-one years and lot’s of growing pains – still committed and going strong!

Mother’s kitchen is available to cater anything from simple box lunches, upscale luncheons, brunch, dinner parties, cocktail parties, meetings, and other large or small events
Our services range from prepared foods dropped off at your location or picked up at ours, to full service including servers, bartenders and chefs

Every day at Mother’s we bake a variety of fresh items. Our standard selection includes: muffins; scones; coffeecake; cookies; brownies and other bars
We also make homemade donuts on Tuesdays and Thursdays – call ahead to reserve some, they go fast!
All of our baking is made from scratch with quality ingredients
Special orders for any of our baked goods are available in any quantity by calling in advance
Also offered are a variety of specialty desserts for any occasion. We have several delicious cakes and buttercreams to choose from, as well as homemade pies, and tarts

Our deli case is filled daily with fresh coleslaw, creamy dill potato salad and many other specialty salads like pesto penne; sesame noodles; roasted vegetables; Israeli couscous or lemon parsley quinoa
You can also find Smith Family Farm yogurt and milk, a variety of Seal Cove Farm goat cheeses and some local veggies and herbs when available
